Loving Those Who Are Hard To Love

...

In Matthew 5:43-44 it says: "You have heard that it was said, love your neighbor and hate your enemy. But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you."

These verses come from the sermon on the mount that was given by Jesus. This is a difficult task for many people, at least I know it is for me. But there is one person who could do it every time without fail and that was Jesus. He would form relationships with people He knew would eventually hurt Him, like Judas. He prayed and asked God to forgive those who were persecuting Him while hanging from a cross. Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice on the cross for all of us. So while we may find it difficult to love those who hurt us, we can look to Jesus as the perfect example of how to love our enemies. Because while people betrayed, hurt, and criticized Him, He chose to die for them.
