The Highest Mountain

One of my favorite songs is "Canyons" by Cory Asbury. The opening lines to the song are:

"I've scaled all the highest of mountains and I've stood at the edge of their peaks, but I still couldn't see to the edge of your love for me."

This past week I went hiking in the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee. I saw amazing views as I hiked in the mountains and was overwhelmed by its beauty. I thought about this song during my trip. I had heard this song months before my trip but understood it after I stood on the mountain. It helped me realize how vast God's love for His creation is and how powerful He is. His love for us is difficult to comprehend because it is so unconditional and pure. We can't see to the edge of it because it is unending. It is with this love that He sent His son to die on the cross for us to save us from our sins. His love is so big that it washes away our sins and gives us the opportunity to have eternal life. Let's remember this as we go into communion.
