A Love Letter to Humanity

02.04.24

In years past, when I have written communion meditations in February, I tend to gravitate toward love. I am sure it is from the reminder of Valentine's Day this month. The topic of love is everywhere. It's on the television screen, it is on people's minds, it's even on the shelves at the store—especially this time of year. But I want to use communion time today to remind you that it is also in the Bible. The Bible is God's written word to humanity about His great love for us. This is not the type of love you see in the movies, other books, or even between people here on earth. The love that the Lord expresses for humanity is unconditional and unwavering. It does not end and it does not change. The greatest act of love that the Lord did for us was send His son to die on the cross for our sins.

In John 3:16 it says: "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life." There is no greater love than this. And the amazing part is that this love and offer of eternal life is extended to everyone. Let's take time during communion to reflect on God's great love for us.
